This fund is a portion of the money you will accumulate in your life, that you will employ to help bring your heart felt values to the generation(s) that follow you. This is your top tier fund, that is this is the pinnacle of the other funds, and you will not reach it without creating a rainy-day fund, or an emotional fund or having something in the way of a, Done Working for the Man Fund. Without these funds, the challenges of the rain that will fall in every life and the emotional highs and lows will rob and defeat your efforts to fund a legacy. Now, you do not need to have money to leave a legacy. For example, look at Jack Dawson remembered in the 1997 motion picture, The Titanic. Generations later, his love and sacrifice were remembered. However, for those of us that have made it to America, born native or immigrant, and are looking to live the American Dream, your ambitions require an unquenchable desire, the ability to work, and the ability to fund your dream over time.
  1. Start with the end in mind, what will be your Legacy? What brings you the greatest joy? When you last felt great about an accomplishment, was it the accomplishment, the journey, or the overall experience that brought you joy? When your life is done, what accomplishment(s) and or character trait(s) do you want to be remembered for? What inspires you and how would you like to inspire others? Who are you at the core, what do you stand for? Let this be your motivation to make good things happen. Claim your ground. Name it your Legacy Fund, dedicate a place for it.
  2. Now that you have ground to defend, add a small weekly deposit to it, then defend it from raids from within and without. Endless are the gadgets and salespeople who would like you to part with your dreams, they will play to your emotions, play to your heart, play to your pride, but all of them will rob your ability to create a fund sufficient to build the discipline and character needed to inspire and accomplish your dreams.
  3. Create an Emergency Fund, an Emotional Fund and a, Done Working for the Man Fund, as a defense perimeter to your legacy.
Now find FUN ways to earn, keep and defend your growing funds. This effort will help you develop the discipline to live on less than you earn and save a little.  As you learn to put your funds to work, over time they can create wealth sufficient to do good things that can enhance the legacy you create, live and leave.
